Forged insurance proposal forms are documents that have been altered by the insurance agents/brokers to sell the wrong insurance policies to the policyholders. It is incorrect for insurance agents/brokers to provide a forged insurance form and doing so can result in legal action being taken against them. You must have heard many policyholders saying they have been sold wrong insurance policies. One of the main reasons of mis-sold insurance policies is forgery or tampering with the insurance proposal form.

Problems you will face if your insurance form is tampered

Always read the policy document: As a policyholder, it is important to read the policy documents carefully. If you are not satisfied with the coverage benefits, you have the right to terminate the policy within the 15 days free look period.

Contact your insurance provider: If you fail to cancel the policy within the free look period, inform your insurance provider immediately of your suspicions and provide them with all the details of the tampering that you have noticed.

Review your coverage: Review the coverage benefits of the insurance policy and confirm whether any changes were made to the original proposal form. Ensure that your coverage is accurate and valid.

File your complaint with the IRDAI: You can approach the IRDAI to register your complaint. You are also required to submit the necessary documents to support your complaint. IRDAI looks into all insurance grievance redressal matters and takes the necessary steps. 

Approach the Insurance Ombudsman: If no action is being taken against your registered complaint, you can escalate your issue with the Insurance Ombudsman. The Insurance Ombudsman tries to resolve the issue within 15 to 30 days of filing the complaint. 

Seek legal advice: If you suspect that the tampering was deliberate or fraudulent, you may need to seek legal advice to protect your rights and interests. For this, you can file your case in the civil court regarding the tampering of your insurance form or mis-selling of insurance policies.
